How we write our RPG guides

Our buying guides help you choose a game, platform and edition. We distinguish what a publisher confirms from what we recommend based on that information.

Buying guides and reviews

A sourced buying guide is not a hands-on review. It can explain a combat system, platform support or edition contents without claiming that we finished the game. Guides say when they were checked and link to their sources. A scored review should describe the version played and the basis for its verdict.

What you can verify in our current guides

Sources and limitations

We use developer, publisher, platform-store and support pages for product details. Publisher frame-rate targets are labelled as specifications rather than our measurements. We do not invent playtimes, benchmarks or plot details. If we have not verified something, we leave it out or say so.

For gameplay questions not explained in official product information, we identify and link the specialist reporting we use. We cross-check specific evolution steps where possible, distinguish older previews from current game instructions, and state when we have not repeated a method ourselves. A sourced explanation is not an independently tested build ranking or a complete game database.

How comparisons work

We compare the games covered here by combat, platform and the kind of experience a player wants. A short comparison is not an exhaustive best-games ranking. Recommendations about player fit are editorial judgments, not publisher claims.

Updates and corrections

Check the updated date on each guide. Edition contents, prices and platform availability can change; confirm the current product listing before buying. To report an error, include the page URL and a supporting source via @SplashTOMATO.

Affiliate links are marked separately from source links. An available affiliate offer does not establish a game’s quality or limit your buying options. Read the affiliate disclosure for details.
